Marquinhos, thunderbolt announced by PSG

In full final sprint towards the title in Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain announced the extension of the contract of its captain, Marquinhos, now linked until 2028.

That’s it and file settled for Paris Saint-Germain! Marquinhos, captain of the Rouge et Bleu, will not move this summer. The Brazilian defender has extended his contract with the capital club until 2028. His previous lease, signed in January 2020, ended at the end of next season.

Sometimes disputed, and often depicted as one of the symbols of PSG’s repeated failures on the European scene, Marquinhos will therefore retain his status. “I am very happy to announce this contract extension, but also very proud. This is a very special moment for me. Paris Saint-Germain has always given me a lot of confidence, and I too have enormous confidence in this club. I am convinced that we will continue to achieve great things together in the years to come,” rejoices the Brazilian in a fairly agreed speech.

While a new major cleaning could take place at PSG this summer, with the possible departures of Lionel Messi, Neymar or why not Marco Verratti, Marquinhos will not be affected by this soap opera. And after his arrival in 2013, he will exceed 10 years of presence at the club.  » We are very happy that Marquinhos extended with the Paris Saint-Germain family. I remember him when he joined the Club at the age of 19, says President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the PSG press release. From day one, he showed great dedication and a winning spirit, always fighting for the Paris Saint-Germain shirt. His talent, experience and commitment to the Club are exceptional. I am confident that we will have many more successes together as Marquinhos’ story continues with PSG.. »

Marquinhos will therefore still be one of the PSG executives next season, which Christophe Galtier is delighted with. “He’s one of the best defenders in the world. It has been ubiquitous for ten years. This is real good news, it’s a strong signal sent to everyone. PSG wants to remain competitive. It is also, for Marquinhos, a proof of reliability on what he can be as a player, both on the field, but also on a daily basis.named the Parisian coach, whose personal future is far from guaranteed.
